Fun! Fun! Fun!

Last weekend my BFF, Karen, and I made our yearly journey to the Stampfest rubber-stamp convention in Orlando. I may have lost track but I think this is at least our fifth year going. It's basically two days of intense craft related shopping. Hey, crafting and shopping are two of my most favorite things so what could be better right?
I didn't take my camera with me this year but here's a couple pictures of some of the goodies I bought:
Lots of Nestabilities by Spellbinders and a new Cuttlebug template

Some wood-mounted and clear stamps
Some super cute embellishments.
I also bought a few things for my Mother who is a stamper too.

One of the stamps I got is a Thomas Kinkade stamp. I was really intimidated by the amount of detail in the stamp. I usually like things with open lines that are easy to color and/or cut out so this is a major deviation for me. Here's how my first attempt at using it came out:
Not bad for my first try I think.
Charles made the trip to Orlando with me. He had no interest in Stampfest of coarse so he went exploring Orlando while Karen and I shopped. On Saturday evening he and I went to Old Town
where there were plenty of shops and things to see including a classic car parade.
It was a fun trip but as expected I came home broke and exhausted.
On an unrelated note, here's a shadow-box scene I made for my Dad for his birthday. I got the idea when I made a card with a similar scene for a swap recently. I hope he likes it. You can't really tell in the picture but there are quite a few layers going on in there.
Have a happy 4th of July every one!
