Craft-Therapy Anyone?

Crafting is such a great stress reliever for me. There has been some stress at Fort Albertson of late. (No, no don't worry, things are still peachy between Gene and I. There has just been some business to take care of.) I'm not sure I can say crafting is any cheaper than therapy but it's a lot more fun for certain.

Twas the day before Halloween and what was I doing? Making polymer clay goodies including a turkey and a snowman.
Not only that, I tuned Pandora on to some Christmas music for inspiration and worked on some Christmas cards as well. Not exactly in the Halloween spirit I suppose but, Halloween has never been one of my favorite holidays. In fact, the things I like most about it are watching The Great Pumpkin (Charlie Brown) and knowing that we have entered the gateway to the holiday season. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, here we come.

I've been thinking a lot about the up-coming Christmas. This will be our first Christmas without Grandpa. It just wont be the same, especially on Christmas Eve when we all gather at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Last year was exciting for me because I got to take Gene up to NC with me. It was our first Christmas together. He got to meet my family and we even got to see snow!
This year, he's not so interested in going and while I guess I can't really blame him, it still bothers me some. I hope I am not in (another) one of those relationships where I will never get to be with my significant other for Christmas because my partner doesn't want to spend Christmas in NC and it's just about the only chance I have to get up there. I know it sounds silly because we are together the whole rest of the year for goodness sake but... it's Christmas!!... and I'm a sentimental fool. So, I am trying to get to a compromise where he will at least come up for a couple days, even if not the whole week.

Hmmm. I feel more craft-therapy coming on. Tonight though, I am thinking we will embrace the Halloween spirit at least enough to plop down on the couch and watch a scary movie while we hide from trick-or-treaters because there's no candy in our house...... Ha.....
